Scientifically echo is a reflection of sound. It arrives your ears after the original sound because it has to get reflected and travel each time it reaches you.
Every one of us has experienced this madness of trying to echo sounds when we are in new places with only walls around or mountains around. I am sure you must have tried too and not only sane but insane sounds. In Bollywood, in almost every romantic or romantic comedy movie these mountains not only echo sounds of two lovers, but these mountains are held witness to their love. According to the legends, mountains keep secrets, maybe this is why the beloveds are more inclined to make them their witnesses. It is said that mountains keep the echoes deep inside.
“A mountain keeps an echo deep inside. That’s how I hold your voice.”

Mountains are ready to echo when you ask them, they are not slaves of your sound, but they acknowledge that they have heard you and kept your secret, and held the echo. They are the witnesses of your secrets, and your words, they speak back to you when you need them.
Holy Quran also mentions Mountains’ echoes and quotes in a verse that mountains are the true secret keepers, and their echo is used as a witness,
And We gave David bounty from Us: ‘O you mountains, echo God’s praises with him, and you birds!’ And We softened for him iron.
~Holy Quran
This whole world is full of mountains, whatever you say, or you do, will come back to you, echoed, a cuckoo’s song of autumn would not be echoed as the sound of a pig. Rest assured, mountains do not lie, if you get sound of a pig back, must have made it.
