This masterpiece was taken during lunar orbit by the Apollo 11 mission crew in July of 1969. Apollo 11 was the first manned lunar mission. Launched aboard a Saturn V launch vehicle from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida on July 16, 1969 and safely returned to Earth on July 24, 1969.
