Not long ago a mega project restoring 350,000 hectares of forests and land was completed in Pakistan which surpassed its commitment with Bonn Challenge. This mega project went on for over 3 years and more than a billion forest trees were planted which not only changed the eco-system of forests but changed the landscape of many deforested lands in the province of KPK in Pakistan.

The province of KPK in Pakistan is governed by an emerging democratic force in Pakistan, called Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) literary meaning Pakistan movement of/for Justice. PTI is currently the most talked about party not just in print and electronic media but also on social media for their ways of governing, accepting and adopting innovative ideas and taking head-on challenges.

Their most recent environment related educational and innovative campaign related to sprouting pencils has never been witnessed in Pakistan or the sub-continent, or I would go further and bravely say, environment has never been a topic, or a matter of concern in sub-continent, let alone be part of political campaign. The twitter hashtag
#بیجوالیپنسل meaning #SproutingPencil has gained a lot of attention as PTI is distributing free pencils at mass-level to educational institutes who want to be part of the campaign.

This idea was originally started in Kick Starter by 3 MIT students from Denmark, and the links are given below in References Section.
